October 28, 1933 – November 16, 2023
Pearl May Yoos, 90 years old of Olds, Alberta passed away on November 16, 2023, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Pearl was born on October 28, 1933, in Medicine Hat. Pearl was a child born during the challenging times of the 1930’s. As such she was adopted not once, but twice. After her second adoption she made her home with the Petersen Family. Pearl grew up and went to school in Sundre, Alberta.
Pearl was married to Joseph Yoos on April 23, 1953. Pearl and Joe had 4 children. Randy, Josie, Darwynn, and Stacey. For the entirety of their marriage Pearl and Joe made their home in Olds, Alberta. Pearl had a few different jobs over the years. She cleaned rooms at the Hospital, and worked at the Co-op. But the place she did her best work was at home. Pearl was an amazing homemaker and caretaker to many. She babysat many of her grandchildren and several others over the years. Pearl loved to sew, garden, cook and bake. She had a big love for all animals. Farm animals, wild animals, you name it. She loved them all. Pearl and Joe spent many years enjoying their camping spot at Westward Ho Park.
In 2007 Pearl was predeceased by her husband Joe. They were married for 54 years.
Pearl is survived by all 4 of her children along with their families, including 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her 4 sisters, and her many friends. Everyone who knew Pearl will miss her strong will, gritty and hard-working nature. Her caring and loving heart. Her sense of humour, wit and zest for life. Truly one in a million and will be very missed.
A celebration of life was held at the First Baptist Church on November 24, 2023. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Kirsten’s Place a shelter for children and adults who are victims of domestic violence.
