Simple Life Celebrations kicked off its Celebrate Life Summit Week with a five-kilometre run/walk to raise money for the Mountain View Food Bank last Sunday morning.

“It was awesome – 89 people registered,” said Krystal Worth of Simple Life Celebrations.

“We raised more than $300 and we filled three big Mountain View Food Bank tubs with food donations.”

The Olds business has eight other events planned for the rest of week. All the money raised will go to the Mountain View Food Bank.

“The Mountain View Food Bank gets rammed up for Christmas and gets a whole bunch of donations for Christmastime,” said Shawna Cevraini.

“After Christmas, its supplies start dwindling a little bit. We want to give it a big boost for springtime.”

All of the planned activities have the common goal of celebrating life, simplifying and being healthier.

“Every day has a different theme and has a different in-person live event plus the online bloggers and interviews that we have been doing,” said Cevraini.

On Valentine's Day, the theme will be love, with a special date night planned at the Faculty Centre at Olds College. Participants will be able to choose from a variety of activities, which includes a wine and cheese tasting, a hayride, a couples dance lesson, a communication workshop and a date night planner.

The week will wrap up with an international party on Saturday evening at the Olds Rec Centre, with world music, ethnic foods, fair trade and local homemade products.

For more information about the week's schedule of events, please consult the Celebrate Life Summit Facebook page. To register for any of the events, please go on eventbrite.com and search for Olds.
