52nd St. in Olds finally gets its second lift of pavement

Asphalt has been milled around the manholes and tie-ins on 52nd Street in Olds in preparation for a top lift of asphalt along three blocks of 52nd Street

OLDS —  Final paving of three blocks along 52nd Street in Olds finally happened on July 5 for a project that began roughly a year ago.

The $2.5 million project was undertaken last summer and fall along three blocks west from 50th Avenue.

The project, undertaken by Ruby Rock Asphalt Works Ltd., involved replacing underground sewer and water lines believed to be 70 to 80 years old as well as installing new sidewalks, curb and gutter, and then repaving the street.

The initial lift of pavement was laid down last fall after the sewer and water replacement work was completed.

This spring, the last sections of sidewalk were installed. Landscaping was also done, including re-laying sod.

Then in late June, workers milled asphalt around the manholes and tie-ins on 52nd Street in Olds in preparation for the top lift of asphalt.
