OLDS – A survey to get feedback from the public on what the priorities should be for the 2025 town budget is now underway.
The survey was launched May 27 and runs until July 5. Its launch was announced in a news release issued by the town.
“This survey allows residents to provide their direct feedback on the budget process by selecting top spending priorities on a wide range of topics affecting our community,” the release says.
“Resident feedback, ideas, and suggestions are invaluable as we make decisions about how to allocate resources and prioritize initiatives that will enhance the quality of life for our community.”
This year, the town is looking for feedback in several areas, including RCMP services, municipal enforcement, housing and economic development.
These surveys can have a real impact.
Last year’s survey found that residents wanted a change in the solid waste pickup schedule.
“This feedback led to increased service levels in our residential schedule moving from a three-week rotation to a two-week rotation,” the news release says.
“It further increased to a weekly pickup for organic waste (green bins) during the spring and summer months."
The dump for branches, etc. opened in May this year is also a direct result of feedback in last year’s survey.
To participate in this year’s survey, residents are invited to visit www.olds.ca/engagement before Friday, July 5.
Results will be presented to town council on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
