OLDS — It may be tough to find a hotel room in Olds from the end of July through early August because at least three agriculturally-oriented events will be held in town during that period.

On July 30 and 31, the Olds College of Agriculture & Technology will be hosting AgSmart, its fifth annual two-day, outdoor exhibition on campus showcasing the latest in agriculture innovations and practices.

Members of Outstanding Farmers of Alberta will also be in town July 30 - Aug. 1. They’ll take in AgSmart as part of their activities.

On July 30, delegates to the World Simmental Congress will tour the Mader Ranches west of Carstairs, then head to Olds.

From Aug. 1-3, World Simmental Congress delegates will tour a couple of more Simmental operations, hear from speakers, attend a show and a sale as well as a banquet.

It’s all part of a five-day gathering which includes stops in Calgary, Banff and Rimbey.

“The town is going to be hopping that week,” AgSmart event co-manager Stacy Felkar said during an interview with the Albertan.
