OLDS — RCMP are warning people not to consume drugs or alcohol and then drive.
That warning -- issued today (Sept. 9) in a press release -- comes after emergency crews attended a single-vehicle rollover south of Olds that occurred on Aug. 29 on Highway 2, south of Highway 27.
Olds and Airdrie RCMP as well as the Innisfail Integrated Traffic Unit, firefighters and ambulance personnel, along with a collision scene analyst, responded.
“Upon arrival, members located a heavily damaged vehicle in the median,” the RCMP news release says.
“The vehicle occupants, a 48-year-old male and a seven-year-old child, were taken to hospital by ambulance, where it was determined that they had suffered minor injuries.”
Police say alcohol may have been a factor in the crash and that “charges are pending.”
“The RCMP and Alberta sheriffs want to remind people there is no reason to be driving if you have consumed alcohol or drugs,” the release adds.
Police added they are grateful to people who stopped by to help in the wake of the incident.
