Three people face charges in connection with the alleged smuggling of drugs into Bowden Institution.Jesse Cole, 32, is charged with two counts of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He was released from the medium and minimum security prison in September.Alan Goossens, 34, is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. Cory Michaels, 31, is charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking. Both men were inmates at the Bowden Institution.All three suspects have since been transferred to higher security institutions and are scheduled to appear in Red Deer provincial court this coming February.According to an RCMP news release issued Dec. 20, the charges stem from an incident Nov. 5. On that date, Corrections staff found a suspicious person ñ a former inmate -- outside the prison's fence.

RCMP Staff Sgt. Chris Matechuk says it's not connected to a seizure of nearly $500,000 worth of drugs announced in late November.
