Thieves are still trying to steal vehicles in Olds. RCMP Cpl. Courtney Harding says attempts were made in the last few days to steal at least a couple of vehicles in town.

Thieves continue to try to steal vehicles in Olds.
Olds RCMP Cpl. Courtney Harding says there were at least two unsuccessful attempts to do so last week.
On Feb. 19, a complainant from Sunrise Village reported that someone had punched the driver's side door and tampered with the ignition and steering wheel of what Harding describes as an "older model" Jeep SUV.
The day before that, a complainant on Balsam Cres. had the same thing happen to his Ford pickup.
On Feb. 15 at about 3:40 pm, Olds RCMP received a complaint that a driver who could be impaired was stuck in the snowbank just off of 46th Street in front of the Cilantro Kitchen and Bar.
When police got to the scene they found a lone female in the driver's seat of a car "in what appeared to be possible medical distress," Harding says.
Emergency Medical Services personnel were dispatched to assess the female. She was transported to hospital for medical care.
"RCMP believe alcohol to be a factor in this collision. This matter remains under investigation and charges are pending," Harding says.
Otherwise, last week was pretty quiet for Olds RCMP. In fact, they only received 69 calls for service. That's about half what they normally receive in a week.
Harding says that's likely because last week's extremely cold weather kept people "inside their houses and out of trouble."
