Blairmore man charged after traffic stop

While driving around town on the afternoon of Christmas Eve, an off-duty police officer saw a man driving a car with alcohol in the vehicle. The police officer immediately called the Olds RCMP detachment.

While driving around town on the afternoon of Christmas Eve, an off-duty police officer saw a man driving a car with alcohol in the vehicle. The police officer immediately called the Olds RCMP detachment.

"The vehicle was located and a traffic stop was initiated on Highway 2A, north of town towards Bowden,î said Cpl. Jay Peden, Olds RCMP.

"As a result of the traffic stop, the driver was arrested for impaired driving. He was transported to the Olds detachment to provide breath samples.î

After the samples were obtained, the driver, who is a 61-year-old man from Blairmore, was charged with impaired driving and having a blood-alcohol level exceeding .08. The driver's first appearance in Didsbury court will be on Jan. 30.
