The sidewalk outside the Itzaclip! Doggy Day Spa on 50 Street resembled a murder scene on the night of Sept. 21 after a man punched the business's front window, cutting his arm and leaving a large amount of blood across the storefront and on the ground.
A witness who lives close to the scene but asked not to be identified out of concern for her safety said she heard two men arguing in front of the store just after 11 p.m.
After one of the men walked away, the witness said she heard a loud “pop.”
When the witness looked out her window, she saw the man who had punched the window lying on the ground motionless.
The other man, she said, returned to the scene and said he would bring back his truck.
He and another man returned and put the man on the ground into the truck and drove off.
The witness said the men were in their late 20s or early 30s.
Police could be seen searching an alley adjacent to the business shortly after the incident.
Const. Dale Bereza, a spokesman for the Olds RCMP, said the man who had punched the window had been kicked out of the Blue Yak bar prior to the incident and police believe he was upset over the recent death of his mother and had punched the window out of grief.
The man, who Bereza said is from Olds, was taken to the hospital and treated for cuts to his forearm.
Police are considering charging the man with mischief, he added.
