OLDS — A&W restaurants in Olds and Bowden raised $5,000 to support Canadians living with multiple sclerosis (MS) during the company’s Burgers to Beat MS campaign held Aug. 22.

That figure is up slightly from last year.

In the campaign, $2 from every Teen burger sold went toward supporting Canadians living with the disease.

MS attacks the central nervous system, disrupting communication between nerve cells and so far, there’s no cure for it.

Dean Bracken, owner/operator of the A&W restaurants in Olds and Bowden, says they sold 715 teen burgers, but raised more than $3,200 from donations and from customers who allowed staff to round up their bills during the month of August.

“Overall (I’m) very pleased with the Olds and surrounding community for once again being extremely generous,” Bracken wrote in an email.
