OLDS - An Olds man facing a conspiracy to commit murder charge following his arrest near the Coutts border crossing blockade in February will be back in court next week, court officials said.
Jerry Mitchell Morin, 40, also faces charges of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and mischief over $5,000.
Three other men, Chris Carbert, 44, Chris Lysak, 48, and Anthony Olienick, 39, also face the same charges.
Morin, who remains in custody, was scheduled to have a bail hearing in Lethbridge provincial court on March 15, but the matter was adjourned.
Morin was arrested on Feb. 14 as he was heading southbound on Highway 2 outside Coutts, police say.
He was allegedly in possession of two firearms at the time of his arrest. Police have not said who any of the accused are alleged to have conspired to murder.
In a video posted on his Facebook page on Feb. 14, before charges were laid, Morin called on people to join the Coutt’s blockade.
“This is war,” said Morin. “If you don’t support me, I’ll never, ever support you, ever. We need to hold the line.”
Morin will be back in court on March 28 for election and plea.
