Police said an Olds man allegedly responsible for a hit-and-run collision that destroyed one car and damaged another had a blood-alcohol content that was twice the legal limit when he was arrested.At about 11 p.m. on March 18, a white Chevrolet pickup truck heading north on 61 Avenue struck a 2009 Toyota Yaris parked on the east side of the road near 53 Street and then struck a silver 2004 Pontiac Sunfire parked in front of the Yaris.The collision caused “significant damage” to the vehicles but no one was injured, police said.The driver, police said, allegedly drove off but the collision had torn the truck's front passenger-side tire off.A 35-year-old Olds man was arrested a short time later outside the Tread Pro Tire Centre on Highway 27.The man is facing charges of impaired driving, failing to remain at the scene of a collision and driving with a blood-alcohol content over the legal limit.He is due to appear in court in Didsbury on April 28.The Yaris belonged to an employee of the Olds Albertan and according to a police report provided to that individual, the driver of the pickup truck is identified as Calvin Zimmerman.The charges against the driver of the truck have not been proven in [email protected]
