Election day results confirmed

The Town of Olds has released official results of the Oct. 16 civic election and the results remain unchanged from those recorded on election night.

The Town of Olds has released official results of the Oct. 16 civic election and the results remain unchanged from those recorded on election night.

The six people voted in that night are confirmed as the town's six councillors for the next four years.

They are incumbent Mary Anne Overwater, who topped the polls with 995 votes. New councillor Wanda Blatz finished second with 978. Incumbent Wade Bearchell came third with 963. Incumbent Mary Jane Harper was fourth with 866 votes. Incumbent Debbie Bennett finished fifth with 780. New councillor Heather Ryan took the sixth and final spot on council with 757 votes.

Seven other candidates failed to make it.

They are longtime councillor Harvey Walsh, 745; fellow incumbent Rudy Durieux, 727. The following hopefuls also didn't make the cut: Keith Bishop 725; Gordon Bueckert, 499; Ron Stade, 393; Terry David, 310; and Matthew Cadrain, 199.

The total number of voters who cast ballots also hasn't changed from election night. A total of 1,704 people cast ballots. Approximately 7,270 were eligible to do so.

A total of 140 people voted in the advance poll.
