Olds College's chief financial officer (CFO), now has an expanded role.

In addition to his job as CFO, Mustansar Nadeem is now the institution's vice-president of corporate services.

In his new role at Olds College, Nadeem will focus on operational and financial performance, and campus planning and renewal with a major focus on how technology can be integrated and leveraged for enhancing the college's teaching, learning and applied research activities.

The college made that announcement Monday, Aug. 28.

Nadeem brings a wealth of experience from the private and public sectors.

After joining Olds College in 2016 as the chief financial officer, he has been responsible for the college's financial operations ñ including financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, business systems and treasury.

His focus has been on delivering the financial vision, strategy and leadership to ensure Olds College achieves its business objectives.

College president Stuart Cullum explained the new appointment.

"This role will focus on operational and financial performance, campus planning and renewal, and operational performance in the areas of International, guest services and athletics," he said.

"It's an exciting time for Olds College; we are moving into a period of growth and will build on our areas of strength," he said.

"Mustansar has a diverse background in the public sector, including senior levels within post-secondary. He has shown an ability to think at a highly strategic level and has collaboratively progressed major projects from ideation to completion.

"I am confident that Mustansar will continue to lead in a similar fashion at Olds College, by leveraging technology and working with teams across the institution toward achieving our vision of being the premier integrated learning and applied research community."

Nadeem said he's "honoured" to have been chosen to take on the position.

"I have a deep appreciation for the balance between strategy, systems, resources and operations that must exist for an organization to be successful," he said.

"I look forward to working with the great team at Olds College to evolve the use of technology to enhance our programs, applied research activities and existing operational procedures."

Nadeem received a bachelor of commerce in accountancy from Mount Allison University and is a chartered professional accountant. He also holds a master's degree in business administration from Laurentian University.
