A fire ban is now in place in Olds, due to what the fire department calls "extremely dry conditions" and will remain in place until further notice.
"This fire ban includes open fires, charcoal briquette barbeques, camp fires, fires used for cooking, burning barrels and the discharge of all fireworks," a news release issued by fire Chief Mike Hoffman says.
However, the ban does not apply to cooking and heating appliances fuelled by natural gas or propane.
"A person or persons who sets a fire not permitted under this fire ban will be responsible for all costs incurred for the extinguishment of the fire, pursuant to Fire Bylaw 2005-06 of the Town of Olds," the release says.
