OLDS — Town council has approved an application to create four duplexes in the Cornerstone development.
Council gave the thumbs-up to that proposal during its May 27 meeting.
The duplexes are slated to be built in the 1100 block of Cornerstone Cres. and will result in the creation of a total of eight dwelling units.
Development officer Shari Edgington outlined to council the proposal and the history of the development.
She said permits were originally issued for the development in 2007 with the development of a 36-unit condominium, and then in 2009 for the remainder of the development, which included two more 36-unit condominiums, 19 duplexes and a community amenity building.
“Unfortunately, the development came to a stop after only two duplexes were built,” Edgington said.
“That 2007 development permit has now expired, as development permits are only valid for a maximum of two years.”
