Fugitive wanted by Olds RCMP arrested

A man wanted by Olds RCMP has been arrested near Edmonton. Robert John Poole, 37, of Wimborne was arrested by Sherwood Park RCMP and RCMP police dog services on Dec. 8.

A man wanted by Olds RCMP has been arrested near Edmonton.

Robert John Poole, 37, of Wimborne was arrested by Sherwood Park RCMP and RCMP police dog services on Dec. 8.

He faces several additional charges stemming from that arrest including possession of stolen property over $5,000, operating a motor vehicle while pursued by police, resisting arrest, driving while unauthorized, operating an uninsured motor vehicle on a highway, and nine counts of failing to comply with conditions of a recognizance.

The previous week when police were looking for him, Poole faced a total of 34 charges.

They included 28 counts of failing to comply with release conditions and one count each of trafficking in property obtained by crime, failing to comply with probation conditions, possession of property obtained by crime, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with no insurance, and driving while unauthorized.
After he was arrested, Poole was brought before a justice of the peace to speak to his new charges and outstanding warrants, then remanded into custody.

Poole was scheduled to appear in Red Deer provincial court on a warrant matter this past Friday (Dec.14). He was scheduled to appear in court in Sherwood Park just a couple of days earlier, on Dec.12.
