OLDS — This Friday, Nov. 4 at Tracks Pub, an event to raise money to help fund construction of the Mountain View Emergency Shelter will be held.
The event is called Inspiring Women Inspire Women and tickets are available at Tracks Pub.
From 4 to 6 p.m., people can come down to the pub and make or buy their own tie-dyed t-shirt.
Then, beginning at 7:30 p.m., entertainment will be provided by Jhyl and her ukulele; comedian Steven Martinson, who will serve as MC and do stand-up comedy. Also, École Olds High School principal Meghan Reist and teacher Michael Brown are slated to perform.
A silent auction is planned. If necessary, donors can even bring items to be auctioned when they arrive at the event.
Scott and Brittney van de Pypekamp own Tracks Pub.
Scott says the fundraiser was inspired by the death of a Bowden woman that occurred as a result of domestic violence on March 22, 2021.
“I just wanted to do something,” he said during an interview. “I knew her and her father.”
Sod turning for construction of the Mountain View Emergency Shelter is expected to occur next spring.
