OLDS — The Town of Olds is receiving a $50,000 grant from Infrastructure Canada’s Rural Transit Solutions Fund to study the community’s transportation needs and recommend a solution by March 31, 2026.

The money, coming from Infrastructure Canada’s Rural Transit Solutions Fund, is provided to enable the Town of Olds to hire a consultant.

That consultant will “conduct a thorough assessment of our current transportation needs and recommend transit options for our growing community,” a town document says.

“The consultant will prioritize transparency, inclusivity, and engagement, reaching out to residents and key stakeholders through various channels,” the document adds.

“These stakeholders include local businesses, schools, Olds College, community organizations, advocacy groups, and transportation experts.

“By collaborating with these groups, the project aims to incorporate diverse perspectives into the final plan.”

Council passed a motion confirming that the Town of Olds meets all requirements of the Infrastructure Canada – Rural Transit Solutions Fund agreement.

It authorizes chief administrative officer Brent Williams to execute the agreement on behalf of the town.
