OLDS — The First Baptist Church has announced the winners in its pumpkin colouring contest.
Due to COVID restrictions, the church cancelled its annual Pumpkin Patch Halloween party and held the contest in its place. Children were encouraged to colour in drawings on paper and submit them.
The contest was held Oct. 24-31. Judging took place on Oct. 31.
Entries were judged in three categories: zero to pre-kindergarten, kindergarten to Grade 2 and grades 3 to 6.
Following are the first and second place winners:
Zero to pre-kindergarten: first, Aliza Boffey; second, Brayley Gaboury.
Kindergarten - Grade 2: first, Edyn Hildebrand; second, Taya McCall.
Grades 3 – 6: first, Charlie Boffey; second, Maryn Hildebrand.
The church was forced to cancel its Pumpkin Patch Party last year as well, due to COVID. Candy bags were given out from the church instead that year.
All participants received a bag of candy.
