OLDS — As many as 40 potential investors from India could tour Mountain View and Red Deer County communities in mid-October, Olds economic development officer Sandra Blyth says.
Blyth confirmed efforts are underway to arrange that tour during an appearance before Olds town council. She said it could not only include Olds, but also Didsbury, Sundre, Bowden and “maybe Innisfail.”
During an interview with the Albertan, Blyth said the date for that tour has changed several times over the past months. Mid-October is the latest time frame pegged.
"Essentially we're being told that there are approximately 40 that will be in attendance that will be visiting Olds and some of the neighbouring communities as well,” Blyth said.
“I believe that they are going to be here for three days. And so each of the communities will have an opportunity to present our competitive advantages and hopefully attract some investment to central Alberta.”
During her earlier appearance before council, Blyth said, “essentially, I'm just kind of waiting to find out what exactly they're looking at from us.
“I'm assuming it's doing a presentation on our community and why they should invest here, which is great.”
Blyth said her department would then work to determine the qualifications of those investors.
“Hopefully something comes out of it. So we'll wait and see,” she said.
