Level 1 watering ban implemented in Olds

People in odd numbered homes can water on odd-numbered days. People in even-numbered homes can water on even-numbered days

OLDS — Effective immediately, the Town of Olds has implemented a Level 1 water restriction.

This means residents living in odd-numbered houses or housing units can water their lawns and gardens on odd numbered days of the month.

Those in houses or housing units with even numbers can do so on even days of the month.

This system will remain in effect until further notice.

This restriction is in place because the community’s north water reservoir is being relined, according to a town news release.

Work on the project began May 13 and is expected to be completed by early August.

There are four levels of water restrictions.

If the town goes to a Level 2 restriction, a ban would be imposed on all outside watering and the sale of bulk water would be limited. Also industrial water users would have to limit their consumption until further notice.

Under a Level 3 ban, the all-out ban on outside watering would continue and sales of bulk water would be “discontinued,” a town news release says. The consumption of water by industrial and commercial users such as car washes would also be banned.

A Level 4 restriction would ban all water use or services, except for essential services like hospitals or firefighting.
