Several Olds and area school teachers and staff were acknowledged during the Chinook's Edge School Division's (CESD) annual celebrations Oct. 27.

The board congratulated Olds High School teacher Angie Dezall for an Excellence in Teaching award she received last June. The presentation was reported at that time by the Albertan.

Seven Olds and Bowden teachers were among 14 new instructors in the division who were welcomed into the division.

They are: Heather Dewling, École Deer Meadow School; Courtney Foster, École Olds Elementary School; Tannis Kaun, Horizon School; Ryan Miller, Olds Koinonia Christian School; and three new Bowden Grandview school teachers, Stephen Pietsch, Mary Telfer and Emerald Turville.

During the event, tribute was given to 26 retirees, many of whom had spent their entire careers in Chinook's Edge.

“We are always pleased to honour our staff in this way,” said CESD chair Colleen Butler.

“Each of the people we are paying tribute to have reached a career milestone with Chinook's Edge and our board is very grateful to them.

“The celebrations event allows us to thank each of them for the commitment and personal contribution they provide to our school division each day. Whatever their role, our staff serve students and families extremely well.”

Olds and area CESD retirees are: Janine Becker, Olds Career High School; Patricia McAllister, École Deer Meadow School; Marion Rasmussen, Bowden Grandview School; plus two from Olds Koinonia Christian School, Renate Tauber and Donna Reed.

Also during the celebration, CESD staff were honoured for 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years of service with the division.
