Uptowne Olds' annual Midnight Madness shopping promotion was another great success, according to spokesman Leon Durand of Rips Audio Video.

Under the promotion, held this past Friday, Nov. 16, local businesses offered great deals and stayed open late to accommodate shoppers.

Shoppers had an opportunity to take in various attractions during the event, including music, and a chance to eat grilled hotdogs. Members of the Olds Grizzlys were also on hand to help young kids decorate cookies at Padnoma Support Services.

There were lots of beautiful Christmas decorations to be seen too.

Durand says crowds appeared to be about the same size as last year. He considers that to be a victory, given the fact a big snowstorm hit that day.

"Despite the weather I think it was still a success, and I think the fact that we've been doing it for years, everybody really knows what to expect, and lots of stores were busy."

He expects lots of shoppers to come out this weekend as many stores will be offering Black Friday deals.
