OLDS — As of Dec. 31, $4.46 million (83.1 per cent) of the Town of Olds capital budget had been spent, corporate services director Sheena Linderman says.
Budget and finance in general is one of the responsibilities of Linderman’s department.
Linderman recently gave town council an update on the capital budget during a fourth quarter report on corporate services.
In total, the municipality planned to undertake 29 total projects.
As of Dec. 31, 18 had been completed, seven were still underway, one had been delayed and three were cancelled.
Coun. Heather Ryan asked for more detail on the projects that were cancelled.
“Did we just not necessarily need them at this point,” she asked.
Linderman said in one case, a roundabout at the intersection of 57th Avenue and 54th Street, the estimated cost was found to be too low, so it was cancelled.
“We’ll bring it up in a future capital budget,” Linderman said.
And thirdly, a project to replace a ramp at the south side of the Olds Sportsplex is now projected to be undertaken this year instead of last year.
A project to create a female change room was cancelled because another room was converted for that purpose.
