Jeff Frost is the new chair of the Mountain View Power (MVP) board of directors.
Frost, currently the general manager of the Olds office of Mistras Canada, was born and raised in Olds and attended the University of Lethbridge.
Mountain View Power was founded in 2010 by the Olds Institute for Community & Regional Development.
It sells electricity, natural gas and green-generated power to residential, farming and small businesses in Mountain View County. All profits from the company are used to fund and support community projects in the region.
“I am excited to be part of the Olds Institute and Mountain View Power,” Frost says. “It's great to have an essential service in our community with all profits invested in projects we can all benefit from.”
Frost is looking forward to working alongside the other members of the organization.
He wants to work with the MVP team to increase its subscriber base in the region and promote its green energy option, which is part of a national drive to provide sustainable power to consumers.
New Olds Fibre director
Also, Kathy Kimpton has joined the Olds Fibre Ltd. (OFL) board of directors.
Kimpton is a former vice-president of student and support services at Olds College. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree.
OFL owns the fibre optic network infrastructure in Olds which is used by O-NET, the service provider for the community-owned gigabit broadband network.
Prior to Olds College, Kimpton held senior executive positions in student services, enrolment management and administration at Lakehead University, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and Confederation College.
“She has contributed to the landscape of higher education in Alberta with the introduction of a unique partnership model for enterprise resource planning as well as a public-private partnership model for student housing,” an Olds Institute news release says.
“Her skills in strategic planning and innovative thinking as well as collaboration and stakeholder engagement can be attributed to the success of those partnership models.”
