Tomorrow night (Wednesday, Nov. 21), a new replica of a building will be officially unveiled in the Christmas village in Centennial Park.

The replica of the AGT building will be officially unveiled at 6:30 p.m. It's  sponsored by Alison Caputo of Advanced Telecom, and was created by Anne Burchill with the help of many other individuals. The history of the building is included, organizers say.

Several people who were involved in the project are expected to be on hand for the unveiling.

"Basically, when all the plans were done for the village years ago, there was one building that was never done, which I never knew, until Alison from Advanced Telecom asked me," says Brian Thompson, who helps coordinate the creation and installation of the village.

"She said 'hey, how do we get a building into this?'

"And I said, 'well, let me check it out.' Then I found out the plans were all done to do the history on the old AGT building. So it was all sitting right there.

"We had one slot in the village. There was a spot there for future buildings. It always said in the plans, 'future buildings.'"

Thompson says the unveiling will be historic.

"This will be the last piece that goes into the village. It's basically done and finished now. We've just got to keep it up and keep it going," he says.

Thompson notes the Christmas village is erected each year and maintained by a partnership that includes the Kiwanis Club of Olds, the Olds Fashioned Christmas committee, the Uptowne Olds committee and the Olds Regional Exhibition.
