Earl Kinsella, a former mayor of Red Deer County, has been appointed to the Olds College board of governors.

Kinsella, who was appointed as a public member of the board on Dec. 19, formerly worked as a high school mathematics and biology teacher. He also served a previous term on the college's board and served on the college's centennial governance team in 2012.

Kinsella grew up on a farm in the Bowden-Innisfail area, where he still lives today.

Although his farm has been scaled back, Kinsella at one time operated a 250-head cow-calf operation that also included barley, wheat, silage, hay and canola.
