OLDS — The new McDonald’s restaurant, now under construction in the Cornerstone area of Olds, will open the first week in September, Municipal Planning Commission (MPC) member James Cummings says.
During the May 19 MPC meeting, Cummings said he learned that information while working at McDonald’s for a day during McHappy Day.
“I talked to the management and staff about their new store opening up there in Cornerstone,” Cummings said. “They’re planning to have that open the first week in September.”
Cummings said he was told that once all is ready, the current McDonald’s restaurant, located in the Westview Co-op building, will close.
“They are moving to a full restaurant over there,” he said. “A very exciting day at McDonald’s.”
“I’ve worked that before. It is all confined space, it is quite entertaining,” MPC chair Mary Anne Overwater said.
