OLDS — Rates for the vast majority of services offered by the Town of Olds are staying the same as we roll into a new year.
One rate actually went down.
The only rates that changed according to town staff are those for water, wastewater and solid waste.
All rate changes, contained in a rates bylaw, were approved by council shortly before Christmas and took effect on Jan. 1.
The flat fee for water consumption rose to $14.63 per month from $12.83 a month.
The cost for metered water consumption is now $3.19 per cubic metre, up one cent from last year.
A new water meter replacement charge has been introduced.
Corporate services and finance director Sheena Linderman said it’s $3.50 per month for residential meters. The charge for non-residential ones will be based on meter size.
Linderman said the solid waste collection charge actually fell, to $21 a month from $25 a month.
One other change occurred in the photocopying rates in the town’s corporate services department. That charge is now 35 cents per page, up from 25 cents a page.
