McDonald’s balloon stand stolen

Police are looking for a suspect in the early morning theft of a custom balloon stand from the MacDonald’s restaurant in Olds.

On Aug. 23 at 12:50 a.m. police say a young Caucasian male entered the Olds McDonald's through the main door.

He “waited for staff to leave the front counter before sneaking into the common area and stealing a balloon stand that was on display,” according to Olds RCMP Cpl. Courtney Harding.

The stand is worth approximately $300.

Police describe the male as being of average height and medium build wearing tan skinny pants, a two-tone blue cap with an orange peak, and a black hoodie.

Moody’s conditionally sold

Rocky Mountain Equipment’s (RME) deal to buy the business assets of a New Holland dealership in the Olds area was expected to close on Aug. 17.

RME is Canada's largest agriculture equipment dealer with branches located throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

The purchase of Moody’s Equipment, located in the Netook Business Park at the corner of highways 27 and 2, was part of a five-year growth plan the company recently announced.

As part of the transaction, RME will assume inventory, related debt and the lease associated with the existing Olds-area facility.

The dealership reported $14.4 million (unaudited) in revenue for its most recent fiscal year, the RME announcement stated.
