Newspaper has contingency plan

The Olds Albertan has a contingency plan in place for distribution of newspapers in the event of a postal disruption.

The Olds Albertan has a contingency plan in place for distribution of newspapers in the event of a postal disruption.

“If there is a Canada Post strike or lockout in upcoming weeks, rest assured the Olds Albertan and its second section, the Mountain View Gazette, will still be distributed as we know how important the newspaper is to our readers,” said Olds Albertan publisher Murray Elliott.

Distribution of the Albertan within the town limits of Olds and Bowden would not be affected as Canada Post does not deliver the newspaper in these areas. The Albertan employs a dedicated team of carriers to do this.

For readers outside the towns in the rural areas who receive their newspaper through Canada Post, the Albertan will be increasing the number of copies available at all store and institution locations where the newspaper is normally distributed, where out-of-town readers can pick up their copies.

Please see the advertisement on page 7 of this week's issue for exact locations.

Street vending boxes may also be placed strategically in some rural areas.
