Olds High School students were ticketed late last month -- but in a good way.

About 70 vehicles were stopped and students in them received positive tickets and information pamphlets on Oct. 25.

It was part of a campaign by Olds RCMP to bring awareness to young drivers about the dangers of distracted driving and driving under the influence or drugs and alcohol.

Much of the information and statistics in the pamphlets covered the effects and consequences of driving while impaired by cannabis.

Those who received positive tickets for driving safely had the opportunity to enter their names into a draw to win a $500 Indigo gift card.

The check stop was part of the National Teen Driver Safety Week and was done in conjunction with parachutecanada.org.

It was conducted during National Teen Driver Safety Week, which ran from Oct. 22 to 28.
