Two Grade 4 students who've been depositing money in the Olds Koinonia Christian School's ATB bank say they're doing it for good reason: they have big plans.

"Because I can save my money for something — like when I'm older and I want to get a car —  and a lot of doll clothes," Emma Spady told the Albertan.

Brienne Hopfe has even loftier ambitions.

"So that I can save up to buy something — like a house," she said.

When asked how much money it costs to buy a house, Hopfe said, "I don't know."

Spady figures she's deposited more than $100 during the past couple of years that the bank has been operating in the school. Hopfe believes she's deposited more than $90 during that time.

They deposit a bit here and there from time to time. That usually ranges from quarters to $5 or $20.

However, both girls say the largest amount they've each deposited at any one time has been $50, money they received from relatives at Christmastime.

Spady said they've been doing so for good reason.

"So we don't spend our money, really," she said.

"I told my mom (about the program) and she decided it was a good thing."
