Olds businesses join forces for museum fundraiser

When reFind owner Kristin Allan heard about the Olds Historical Society's financial troubles last December, she immediately started planning a fundraiser with Gotcha Jeans owner Mike Fix.

“Gotcha Jeans and reFind had talked about potentially doing a fashion show this spring,” said Allan.

“We wanted to make it a fundraiser but we didn't know for whom. The answer came to us right that night.”

The result is the Uptowne Fashion Show, which will take place at Tracks Pub this Saturday, starting at 7 p.m.

“We are having the event at Tracks Pub, which is really exciting for us to have a bigger, more conducive space to a fashion show,” said Allan.

There will be a live performance during the fashion show by Saskatoon band We Were Lovers. The event will conclude with a show from Hot Sweet Noise.

Some Olds businesses have also contributed many door prizes.

“There are a lot of businesses that are eager to be involved with this event,” said Allan.

Allan and Fix hope to raise $2,500 for the Olds Historical Society.

“Every little bit helps when you are fundraising for an organization. We will be very excited to pass a cheque on to them,” she said.

“It will go straight to the Olds Historical Society.”

Tickets have been on sale for the past three weeks.

“It was a little bit of a slow start but things are really picking up the more we spread the word,” said Allan.

“I have been selling tickets every day.”

Tickets for the Uptowne Fashion Show are on sale at reFind, Gotcha Jeans, Bean Brokers, and Mountain View Museum.
