OLDS — Olds Koinonia Christian School student Micah Griffin won first place in the CAREERS 2025 SafeGen safety video contest.
As a result, Michah received $2,500 for a video promoting workplace safety that was described as “outstanding and impactful.”
Also, the school received a $1,000 grant for its continued commitment to youth safety education.
The awards were to be presented during a ceremony in the school gym Wednesday morning.
“Micah’s winning video doesn’t just earn top provincial honours - it also secures a spot in the upcoming national youth safety video competition, where the message will compete on a larger stage and inspire students across Canada,” a news release says.
CAREERS is an industry-led public/private not-for-profit foundation established in 1997. It brings together industry, schools, government, and communities to guide youth into successful career paths.
The SafeGen program, encourages Alberta youth to champion workplace safety through creative storytelling, hands-on learning, and leadership opportunities. The annual video contest invites students to craft original content that highlights safety messages in engaging, relatable ways.
"Micah's video was not only thoughtful and well-produced, it truly left a lasting impression," Saroeun Keuth-Ray, director of programs and development is quoted as saying in the news release. “It’s young leaders like Micah who are shaping the future of safer workplaces across Alberta.”
