OLDS — Olds College is extending its hybrid approach to COVID-19 restrictions until at least Feb. 22.
The college made that announcement last week, joining roughly a half-dozen post-secondary institutions throughout the province that have extended their restrictions for at least another six weeks.
On its website, Olds College announced that their hybrid COVID program delivery model will stay in place until Feb. 22.
That means some lectures will continue to be delivered online until that date. On the other hand, some labs will continue or may go ahead as scheduled on-campus.
Students were expected to receive details for their programs via email by evening on Jan. 18.
Large parts of the campus remain open, including the learning commons (aka library), housing, and dining facilities.
However, visitors and social gatherings are still not permitted.
Travel for Olds College professional development remains suspended.
Earlier, it was announced that at least five post-secondary institutions were continuing with online classes for at least six weeks, due to the surge of Omicron COVID cases.
Those institutions were the University of Calgary, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, University of Alberta, Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and the University of Lethbridge.
