OLDS — For the third year in a row, on April 6, Hildebrand Motors will be holding a promotion to encourage more people to donate their organs and raise money for the cause.

The event is in honour of Green Shirt Day, which is actually on April 7. However, that’s also Good Friday this year; hence the decision to hold the event a day earlier.

Green Shirt Day pays tribute to Humboldt defenceman Logan Boulet, one of 16 members of the Humboldt Broncos junior hockey team who died when the bus they were riding in collided with a semi-trailer on April 6, 2018.

Boulet died of his injuries the next day, April 7. Before the crash, he had told his parents of his desire to have his organs donated so others could live. When he passed away, his parents honoured that wish.

On April 6, people are invited to come to Hildebrand Motors any time between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to pick up donor cards.

Staff or volunteers will again be dressed in green shirts.

“We really want to shout out to people to come by and pick up a donor card. I’ll help them fill it out and then we’ll register it for them,” Hildebrand Motors customer relations manager Carla Taylor said during an interview with the Albertan

Also, for the month of April, Hildebrand Motors is once again donating $100 per sold new or used vehicle to the Second Chance at Life Trail Ride Society.

That group subsidizes places for people to stay while they’re awaiting or recovering from organ transplant operations.
