OLDS — Circle March 11 on your calendar.
That’s the date the École Olds High School Interact Club, a junior Rotary club, will be hosting its13th annual fundraising banquet.
The banquet will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and will feature a hot meal, live music, an auction and a dessert auction.
All proceeds will go to Kirsten’s Place, an emergency shelter under construction in Olds. When completed, it will be a safe space where people who have experienced domestic violence can stay.
Kirsten O’Donoghue, for whom the shelter is named, was killed in a case of domestic violence in Bowden in 2021.
Grade 11 student Rhiannon De Luca says O'Donoghue's parents are expected to speak during the occasion.
“Even though none of us have experienced domestic violence, we want to do something good for people,” she said.
