OLDS —  A power outage hit Olds at mid-day on Oct. 30.

FortisAlberta manager of public affairs Peter Brodsky says the outage affected retail businesses and residences in the Uptowne area of Olds as well as Walmart and the adjacent Cornerstone Village. He did not say how many customers were affected.

He said it began at 12:33 p.m. and power was restored by 1:56 p.m. However, at least at the Albertan, the power outage only lasted seconds or a minute or two.

In an email, Brodsky said the worker who investigated the outage traced it back to an “equipment failure” at a power cubicle in the area.
