OLDS — The Olds Municipal Library’s inaugural anonymous artist auction fundraiser was such a success that it’s back for a second straight year.
This art show and silent auction will runs from May 5 to May 9 at the Olds Municipal Library.
Artists of all ages and skill levels have submitted 8"x10" canvas artworks anonymously — each piece signed only on the back — encouraging bidders to choose their favourites based on creativity and personal appeal.
Art lovers can view the works in person during library hours or browse and bid online. Auction links can be found at www.oldslibrary.ca.
Bidding starts at $20 per piece, and a portion of the sales go directly to artists in the community.
The remainder of funds raised will go toward free programs for children and youth at the library. Artists may also choose to donate their portion back to the library.
Guests are also encouraged from May 5-9 to vote for their favorite piece in the People’s Choice Award.
Final bids will be tallied and winners notified on May 9 at 6 p.m.
Last year’s initial anonymous artist auction fundraiser raised more than $1,400 to support local library programs.
