Olds mayor gives tribute to former CAO's death

Norm McInnis grew up in Olds and served the town for nine years before taking the same job in Fernie, B.C. and later Sooke, B.C. He passed away on July 30 after a battle with cancer

OLDS — Town of Olds Mayor Judy Dahl started town council’s Aug. 26 meeting with a tribute to the late, former Town of Olds chief administrative officer Norm McInnis.

McInnis passed away on July 30 after a battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Corey, children and granddaughter.

McInnis served as CAO of Olds for nine years before taking the same job with Fernie, B.C. and later Sooke, B.C., before stepping aside in March 2023, due to his health.

Before coming to Olds, McInnis, who was raised in Olds, served as the CAO in Westlock.

“On behalf of council, staff and the community of Olds, I wish to acknowledge Norm McInnis, former chief administrative officer for the town of Olds, who served from June2 008 to October 2016,” Dahl said.

“He was an integral part of the town and devoted volunteer in the community.

“We offer our sincere condolences to his family on his passing of July 30, 2024.”
