OLDS – A Calgary man was recently arrested and charged by the Olds RCMP Crime Reduction Unit in connection to a recovered stolen vehicle.
RCMP Cpl. Gina Slaney said in a media release issued Tuesday that a stolen vehicle was discovered at a 7-Eleven convenience store in Olds on Feb. 27.
Slaney said police checks revealed the vehicle had been stolen out of Calgary.
She said the driver was with the vehicle when stopped by police officers.
Slaney said the vehicle was towed, and the registered owner was notified.
William Stanko, 58, a resident of Calgary, was arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, said Slaney.
She added the accused also had warrants from Airdrie and Lethbridge, which were executed.
After a judicial interim release hearing, Stanko was released and is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Didsbury on March 24.
