Five people have been charged with drug and other offences in relation to a search warrant executed on a residence in Silverthorne Close last Wednesday evening.
Chris Lerch, 41, Thomas Thorne, 20, Samantha Thorne, 23, Shawna Carr, 19, and a 17-year-old female have all been charged after about 78 grams of cocaine, 300 grams of cannabis, plus ecstacy and Percocet tablets were seized by Olds RCMP. In addition, more than $10,000 worth of Canadian currency was seized. Lerch and Samantha Thorne were each charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count each of possession of proceeds of crime. Lerch has also been charged with one count of possession of stolen property and one count of uttering threats.
Thomas Thorne has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance, theft of a motor vehicle, theft of a cellular telephone, one count driving while disqualified and one count of failing to comply with a probation order. Carr and the 17-year-old female have been charged with possession of a controlled substance.
The initial search warrant related to the theft of an iPhone. The victim of the iPhone theft came to the detachment and reported the theft of her vehicle and iPhone, but using the Find iPhone app, the victim told police it was at the residence where the search warrant was executed. The iPhone was found by police in the vehicle at the address in question.
