OLDS — The Olds and District Chamber of Commerce Small Business awards banquet is looming.
It will be held Oct. 19 at the Olds College Alumni Centre.
The deadline for nominations is fast approaching too. This year, that deadline is Sept. 16.
In the coming weeks, information on how to nominate businesses will be released, along with other details.
“We encourage people to nominate. The QR codes for the forms will be in the newspaper," Small Business Awards Committee Chair Murray Elliott said during an interview.
He added that all the details will be posted on the chamber’s website. Local radio stations will also promote the event.
“We haven’t finalized ticket prices yet but our intent this year is to keep the tickets at a very reasonable cost. We understand what businesspeople are going through,” Elliott said.
One thing that won’t occur this year is the Business Beer and Blue Jeans social, which has been held in the past to announce award nominees.
Elliott said that’s because a similar event, Business Beer and Burgers, was held just this past June.
“We thought it was pretty tight to hold another one in September and then another event in October,” he said. “Probably once we get back into the normal swing of things, we’ll hold one next year.”
