Town workers only had to deal with one water main break during the cold snap, according to communications coordinator Monica Leatherdale.

Starting on the Feb. 1 weekend, the cold snap lasted just over a month.

That one water main break occurred on Feb. 5 when sprinkler pipes at the front of the Olds Municipal Library burst, flooding the area outside the main doors.

"Barring an outside sprinkler break at the Olds Municipal Library, the Town of Olds has been fortunate to come through February 2019 relatively unscathed," Leatherdale wrote in a newsletter.
"Thank you to every outside worker who has weathered the brutal cold to ensure the warmth and safety of all Albertans."
