An 18-year-old man from Olds and a 16-year-old female youth from Carstairs both face charges in connection with a vehicle allegedly stolen from Saskatchewan.

Charges were laid after police encountered the pair near Olds on Oct. 12.

On that day, members of the RCMP's Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Unit were travelling on Highway 27 at Rge. Rd. 10 near Olds when they saw a Dodge pickup truck with a Saskatchewan licence plate in front of them.

"The  RCMP Crime Reduction officers queried the plate and determined the vehicle to have been reported stolen out of Saskatchewan," an Olds RCMP news release says.

Police also noticed the truck had a flat front tire and was pulling over to the side of the road.

"RCMP members offered their assistance to the occupants of the vehicle and subsequently, an 18-year-old male of Olds and 16-year-old female of Carstairs  were arrested for possession of stolen property," the release says.

Names of the accused were not released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and because at the time the news release was issued, charges had not yet been sworn.
