Potential fraud reported to police

RCMP received a report on April 30 from a potential victim in Bowden that a scam artist may be trying to bilk victims. RCMP say the victim received an e-mail purportedly from the Canada Revenue Agency, which had supposedly conducted a review of the victim's financial affairs. The e-mail said the man was eligible for a $3,600 refund and asked the victim to provide bank account information. The man didn't respond to the e-mail, but he determined the e-mail address was from Germany. RCMP deemed the instance a case of attempted fraud.
