Caltech Diesel hit twice

On Aug. 7, Olds RCMP responded to a break and enter that occurred to Caltech Diesel in Olds on Aug. 4, at approximately 4 a.m.

Police say a Ford truck was seen backing up to the shop, forced entry into the business, and an unknown suspect entered and walked out with a 2015 KTM690 black, white and orange Enduro motorcycle.

A couple of days later, another theft was reported at the same business.

On Aug. 10, Olds RCMP responded to a report of a theft of a grey 2016 Dodge 3500 truck from the lot of Caltech Diesel sometime overnight between Aug. 9 and Aug. 10.

The truck’s licence plate number is BKZ5927 and it had a bush bumper and slip tank in the back.

Stolen dealership vehicle recovered

One of three vehicles stolen from Mountain View Dodge on Aug. 9 has been recovered.

The Jeep Grande Cherokee was recovered in a residential neighbourhood of Red Deer several days later, said Olds RCMP Cpl. Courtney Harding.

“Olds RCMP is actively working with RCMP Ident Services and Red Deer RCMP on this investigation,” she said.

At 2:46 a.m. on Aug. 9, RCMP said they received a complaint that a suspect vehicle came to the dealership, rammed a barricade and suspects stole two Dodge Ram trucks and a Jeep Grande Cherokee.

Police said their investigation shows that three male suspects were dropped off by a Ford truck and the suspects then gained access to the dealership. One person remained in the cab of the Ford truck, according to police.

Police said one of the suspects was caught on surveillance video. It shows a male wearing a hockey goalie mask, which police described as a “Jason” mask made infamous in the Friday the 13th horror movie series.

Descriptions are not available in relation to two other suspects believed dropped off for the heist.

Olds RCMP continue to follow up with any tips received from the public regarding the break and enter.

“Thanks to the public for their assistance to RCMP,” Harding said.
